Seasoned CRE Expert to Fill Colorado Eco-Development Post

Gov. John Hickenlooper has nominated Aspen’s Snowmass Village real estate developer Dwayne Romero to be the new director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT). Romero would replace former state Rep. Don Marostica, who was replaced by interim director Alice Kotrlik on January 10, his final day in the office.

As president of Related Snowmass, an operating division of New York-based international real estate and investment form Related Cos., Romero has built a portfolio of commercial properties in Aspen that includes the Snowmass Mall and the Snowmass Center. He also leads the firm’s property management division.

Hickenlooper chose Romero for the position partly because of his job-creation experience. “Dwayne helped stabilize and build successful businesses in the Colorado mountains, most recently in Snowmass Village,” the governor said in a statement. In the new role, Romero would be responsible for promoting economic development in the state and beyond its borders. OEDIT serves as Colorado’s primary state outreach vehicle to companies that may be looking to relocate to or expand within the state.
